These pyramids were found alongside the Mississippi just north of Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis has an affinity for pyramids, as it is the namesake of the biblical city of Memphis, said to have been located alongside the Nile in Egypt. There are other Egyptian place names in the Mississippi delta. Cairo, Natchez, and Alexandria, to name just a few. The Mississippi River Delta is sometimes referred to as “little Egypt.”
